Axel Christensen is Chief Investment Strategist for Latin America at BlackRock. He is also a member of BlackRock’s Latin America Executive Committee.
Mr. Christensen joined BlackRock in 2009. Prior to joining the firm, he was CEO of Cruz del Sur Inversiones, the financial services arm of Chile’s largest industrial group, from 2008 to 2009. From 2002 to 2007, he served as Partner and CEO of Moneda Asset Management. Mr. Christensen was also Chief Investment Officer at AFP Cuprum, one of Chile’s largest pension fund administrators, from 1997 to 2002. Between 1992 and 1997, he held various positions at Citicorp, McKinsey, and Banco de Santiago.
In addition, he served as a member of the Capital Markets Reform Advisory Council for Chile’s Ministry of Finance from 2008 to 2018. He was also a member of the Presidential Pension Reform Commission in 2006, as well as an advisor to the World Bank, the Ministry of Finance, and the securities regulator in Chile. In 2008, he was nominated to the World Economic Forum’s Global Young Leaders program.
