Ximena Rincón

Minister of Energy of Chile

Ximena Cecilia Rincón González is a Chilean lawyer and politician who currently serves as Minister of Energy of Chile. She holds a law degree from the Universidad de Chile (1997) and began her political career young, joining the Christian Democratic Party's (PDC) youth wing. She served as Superintendent of Social Security and later as Intendant of the Santiago Metropolitan Region. Elected senator for Maule in 2009 and reelected in 2017, she also served as Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency (2014) and Minister of Labor and Social Welfare (2015). She won the PDC's 2021 presidential primary before withdrawing, then left the party in 2022 to found and lead the Demócratas party, later becoming Minister of Energy.
