Joaquín Cortez
Superintendent of Pensions of Chile
Joaquín Cortez Huerta holds a degree in Commercial Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1973) and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago. He chaired Chile's Comisión para el Mercado Financiero (CMF) from 2018 to 2022, and previously headed AFP Provida (2011-2013), following an extensive career that included roles at Odeplan, the Central Bank of Chile, Banco Santander and Bankers Trust. President José Antonio Kast appointed him Superintendent of Pensions of Chile in March 2026, the regulator overseeing the country's pension fund administrators (AFPs) and retirement savings system.
