Javier Macaya

Senator of the Republic of Chile

Javier Macaya Danús is a Chilean attorney and prominent politician from the Independent Democratic Union (UDI), a party he presided over from 2020 to 2024. Educated at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, he holds a Master’s degree in Tax Direction and Management and has built an extensive legislative career, beginning in 2010 as a Member of the Chamber of Deputies for the O'Higgins Region. After serving three consecutive terms in the Lower House, he was elected Senator for the same region for the 2022–2030 term, where he currently chairs the Health Committee and serves on the National Defense Committee. Beyond his public career, he has worked as a university professor and held legal leadership roles in the municipal sector.
