He holds a degree in Industrial Civil Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of California (UCLA). He began his career at Empresas CMPC (Materials) in 1987, joining the Planning Department, where he participated in projects such as Celulosa del Pacífico and the acquisition of Química Estrella and the Tissue Products Plant. He later took over the Finance Department, replacing Cristián Eyzaguirre.
From 2004 to 2011, he served as CEO of Forestal Mininco (Materials), and subsequently as CEO of CMPC (Materials). After 31 years of service, he stepped down from his role at CMPC on July 31, 2018. In August of that year, he joined the board of Colbún, becoming its Chairman in May 2019. He is also a board member of ChileDay – InBest.
