Scott Thomson

President and Chief Executive Officer, Scotiabank

Scott Thomson assumed the role of President of Scotiabank on December 1, 2022, and on February 1, 2023, he became President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. He has also been a member of Scotiabank’s Board of Directors since 2016.

Before joining Scotiabank, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Finning International Inc., the world’s largest distributor of Caterpillar equipment and engines, with operations across multiple industries in the Americas and Europe. He has held several senior executive positions, including Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Talisman Energy Inc. and Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Bell Canada Enterprises. Prior to joining BCE, he served as Vice President at Goldman Sachs.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics and Political Science from Queen’s University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
